ILIRRA

Oh, how were you to know?
Dragon Candidate
17 | Female | Apprentice Healer

APPEARANCE
Ilirra is a little over average height, standing at about 5' 8". She has brown hair, that has a slight orange tint. She keeps her hair at about shoulder length, sometimes a bit longer or shorter. Her skin is light, though could hold a tan if she wanted it too. She has brown eyes. Her nose is small and her lips are average in size.

Her choice in clothes is simple. Ilirra wears dark colored clothes. A dark shirt, with dark pants to match. Should the occasion call for it, she will wear something a little more formal and possibly a little more colorful.

PERSONALITY
Cheerful || Guarded || Devoted || Unforgiving || Involved || Insensitive || Disorganized

Ilirra can be quite a cheerful young lady. Almost always, she has a smile on her face. She enjoys putting a smile on other people's faces. In her opinion, a smile is needed to create a smile. She can't get a smile on anyone's face if there isn't one on her own.

She also has a side of her that she keeps guarded. She doesn't like to let anyone to get too close to her. She's seen people get hurt by people they supposedly love, and she refuses to let that happen to her. So, in that aspect of her life, she keeps up a rather large wall. Ilirra doesn't feel right whenever she lets her guard down, that's how long she's had her guard put up.

This is a girl who is devoted to her work. She loves to help others in any way she can. It gives her happiness to see that others like the work she does for them. Ilirra doesn't take on more than one task at one time. She feels that if she does, one task will take away from the other and both will come out worse for that. She wants everyone to get her best work, not something that isn't as good as it could be. Though, if the Infirmary does get swamped, she will do her best to give everyone her best.

If someone makes Ilirra angry or upset, she can be rather unforgiving. She does forgive people, but it takes a longer time for her to forgive someone than it does someone else. She is a grudge holder. She tends to forget the reason for the grudge before she forgives anyone. She will admit that this probably isn't the best way of handling things, but this is how she deals with those people who do upset her in some way.

She likes to be involved in the happenings of the world around her. She finds that keeping herself involved is the best way to get to know other people. Being involved also gives her something to do when she isn't practicing her craft. Though, she can usually be found out and about somewhere practicing, she isn't averse to taking small breaks. This also helps her whenever she's feeling down.

Ilirra has been called insensitive at times. This may be due to her just telling it like it is, and not 'sugar coating' anything she says. She isn't the best at consoling people for this very reason. She refuses to say she's sorry for this, because she just isn't sorry for telling how she thinks a situation is. She just doesn't feel that 'sugar coating' will make anything better.

This lady is one disorganized person. Enter her room and one shall find an cluttered mess. She claims this is how she is able to find things. That when she cleans, she can't find what she needs. She understands that there are other people out there who do not like the disorganization that is her room, so whenever she has to room with or otherwise stay with someone like that, she tries to be as clean as she possibly can.

HISTORY
Ilirra was never a 'problem' child. That role belonged to her sister and brother. Though no child was too unruly, their father wouldn't have it. 'Nerat's been a good home to us, no reason not to be good back.' At least, that's what her father always said. Ilirra and her siblings never did really get an appreciation towards the words. The worst of the war was far to the west of them. Their father, on the other hand, had been from a trading caravan that did its business mostly near Crom.

They only ever heard stories of besieged caravans and their father barely escaping with his life. Ilirra's brother ate up every word, though her sister doubted much of it was true. Ilirra didn't know how to feel herself. She doubted her dad would lie about something like that, but was he possibly exaggerating some of his tale? He would never answer the question whenever she asked it, only laugh it off with some silly comment. But that never stopped her from asking the same question after every tale he told. They all seemed a bit to embellished to her to be true.

Eventually, Ilirra gave up on her dad ever telling her if he exaggerated his tales or not, and focused on other things. Her oldest sibling, her brother, had gone off to the Vintner Hall. He'd always had a fascination with how the wines were made. That left only herself and her sister for a turn. That was before her sister went to join a Craft as well. Her sister chose the Beastcraft. Iliira felt alone. She had little friends in the Hold, the rest of the people her age associated her with tricks her brother and sister had played when they were younger. Which didn't give much toward them liking her.

So it was with a sigh that Ilirra continued her life at the Hold for a few turns more, before she could finally join a Craft for herself. Now, by this time she'd given much thought to what Craft she wanted to join. She could be a Harper, but she felt they got so many apprentices already. What about the other Crafts? Going through each Craft in her head over and over again, Ilirra thought the Healer Craft might be what she wanted in a Craft. She would be able to eventually help people, something she enjoyed doing.

When she got to the Hall, she understood more of what her father had been saying. Ilirra noticed the Fort Weyr patrolling much more aggressively than what she'd seen from the Istan Wings. Maybe everything her father said was true as her brother thought. Or at least, most of it may have been. She still held on to a few doubts. Though, even those were fading away as she watched the Fort Riders wage their war on the Hold that shared its name. She just hoped that the Riders wouldn't turn their attentions to the Hall. Faranth, that would be bad.

As Ilirra went on with her studies, Fort made no obvious attempts on the Hall. Though people would occasionally go missing. Mostly Journeyman who were posted outside the Hall. Life went on, however. There was no time to wonder where the others went. Ilirra assumed they were taken to some Weyr or Hold. But that was the best outcome. She thought it best not to dwell on the subject. So, the young Healer just threw herself into her studies. She barely gave a thought to getting to know the apprentices around her.

With all that was going on, Ilirra thought it best not to get too attached to any one person. There were nights she just wanted to go back home, where none of this seemed real. But there was also a part of her that said that wasn't gonna happen. She needed to be there. The reason never really seemed to be very clear to her. At least, not before the night before her sixteenth turnday. Fort seemed desperate for people to Stand for their eggs. Several people were taken from the Halls one day, Ilirra included.

The young Healer was put to the eggs. She hadn't wanted this. Hadn't wanted this in this way, at least. There were quite a few eggs, and quite a few unhappy dragons looming overhead. Ilirra didn't really like it, though which one of the forced Candidates did? Impressions were made in what seemed like quick succession. Ilirra didn't Impress any of the hatchlings. It kinda made her happy. She didn't want to be forced into fighting people. Though, she wasn't allowed to leave after the Hatching was over. She was forced to stay at the Weyr.

It took a turn and some sevendays, but Ilirra worked out a plan to get herself out of the Weyr. Where she was going, she didn't know that for sure. But it was definitely far away from Fort. It was the middle of the night, and a few of the nicer Handlers were on guard. Ilirra was able to get by them without much trouble. Or they just felt sorry for her. Who really knew. They might've turned her in to the Riders in the morning once they'd been given leave to rest with their Whers. All she knew, was that she was out of there and out of Fort Weyr without seeing much of Fort dragons.

Ilirra'd been headed south, and reached Southern Boll in what she'd thought was a reasonable time. Though who really knew, she was no runner. Nor did she know how long it normally took to reach the Hold on foot. Of course, she'd stopped to look for stuff to eat. Maybe she would've gotten there sooner if she'd brought food. But who really knew? While Southern Boll really wasn't what she was aiming for, she was aiming further south. Southern Boll provided a nice place to learn what had happened since she left the Weyr.

An unexpected sight was also at the Hold. A dragonrider. This Rider wasn't wearing Fort's colors. That looked more like Discovery's colors. Discovery seemed far enough away from Fort that she wouldn't have to worry much about them anymore. She worked up the courage to talk to the Rider, but it seemed she didn't have to. The dragon thought her fit to Stand. She readily agreed to go with the Rider back to Discovery Weyr, hopefully leaving Fort behind for good.
